It’s hard to believe that it’s a year since Bevis of Hampt0n was published, and even more surprising that it has almost sold out its original print run. The original research that went into producing the book is beginning to spawn new work, including investigation of the mouvance associated with it. This is likely to require visits to local archives to get the definitive information, rather than the questionable guess-work that has loomed up unsettlingly in recent weeks. It is stimulating, but slightly daunting, to be contemplating a whole new branch of investigation, but also quite clear that this work needs to be done in order to bring together the many layers of traditional and contemporary ‘reiterpretations’ of the story.
A few remaindered copies Bevis of Hampton linger on my bookshelf and can be obtained by emailing me at lynnevdaATclaraDOTcoDOTuk.
