January

After the exhaustion of Christmas I didn’t think I’d ever get the energy back to tackle the ongoing complexity of my Boeve research, but in fact the slow grey days have been quite beneficial. Only having the energy to work on a little bit of text at a time has helped reveal the usefulness of a Derridean deconstructionist approach. His theory of différènce has opened up the congested ideas that were blocking my forward development of the topics already established. Oddly, I feel very diffident about getting into the writing process, but that may be because I have more thinking to do, but maybe it is just a kind of writer’s block, and I know well enough how to get over that, thanks to my esteemed former tutor Peter Middleton.
